Jacqueline Baird's Biography
Hello. I am Jacqueline Baird … Jackie to everyone except my mom. I am English and I was born on the 1st of April (some would say I have been a fool ever since) at home in a small village in Northumbria.
I am an Aries. My favourite colour is red, and my favourite drink champagne. A knee injury put an end to my sailing days, but I still enjoy swimming, and recently I have developed a passion for playing Bridge.
But nothing like the passion I have for writing. I have always been an avid reader (Torch under the bedcover type as a child) and I had my first success as a writer at the age of 11, when I won the first prize in the Nature Diary of the year competition at school. But I always felt a little guilty, as my diary was more fiction than fact. I met my husband when I was eighteen and after a few adventures when I
travelled around the world we finally married eight years later. We have two sons and still live in Northumbria.
I have always loved romance novels, exotic men in exotic places, and when the boys were at school all day I thought I would try writing one.
The rest is history as they say. My first Harlequin Presents "Dark Desiring" was published in 1988, and it was the greatest thrill of my life when I held the book in my hands, family excepted. Twenty books later I still get the same thrill with
each new book.
It is a real pleasure for me to hear from the readers, and I feel very lucky and thankful that so many people enjoy my books, and I hope will continue to do so for many years to come.
